SDI Solo Diver Course in Thailand

Divers learn the skills to dive solo without the need of a buddy.

One of Big Blue Tech’s most popular courses, the solo diver program teaches experienced recreational divers how to safely dive independently of a dive buddy or strengthen your buddy team skills. The course stresses on proper dive planning, personal limitations, accident prevention as well as the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo.  You will also learn the additional equipment that is required for solo diving including it’s proper usage and assembly. This is the prefect course for underwater photography and underwater video divers.

Big Blue Tech is the only center in Thailand offering this course and are proud to issue Dom Couture his certification. The prerequisites can be daunting for some with a required age of 21 and minimum 100 dives logged. But those with the experience can take the challenge and learn to dive without the comfort or inconvenience of a buddy.

SDI point out very clearly the faulty buddy system where it’s often a matching of people who are not equal and in many situations more experienced divers have to deal with less experienced divers who can pose a risk in certain situations.

The first training agency to offer a Solo Diving certification was Scuba Diving International (SDI) in 1999. As of 2008[update] they remain the only agency to formalize this level of diver training
